Skeletal Trees


As the day darkened, the bare skeletons of the silver birches reached skywards,
arms waving, their branches a black lace network against the fading light.
Everywhere in the woodland the trees seemed to be stretching their arms towards the last of the light,
tall sentinels of the forest, their white bark glowing in the dusk.
